Each colloid is based on a different amino acid, which contains only the
elements C, H, N, and O.
The amino acids are combined with the colloidal gold, palladium, and platinum
particles through amino and carboxyl linkages.
Attachment to the gold, palladium, and platinum colloid does not affect the properties of the antibodies.

The gold colloids are
highly concentrated (OD525 12) compared with other commercially available products (OD525 1). Therefore, efficient preparation is possible using small instruments,
even on a large scale.

Gold colloids may be stored for six months in a refrigerator (4-10C).
Palladium and platinum colloids may be stored for six month in a refrigerator
(4-10C).

The colloids can conjugate with many antibodies as easily as other commercially available gold colloids.
